The music productions service centre “House of Music” was established in Trieste (Italy) in the area of the so-called “Old City” (the historical heart of the town) as an implementation of the European Community project “Urban”, aimed to regenerating important urban area in many European cities.
The building, built upon an original architectural design and equipped with the latest technologies, spreads over three floors: a meeting point, a café, a secretariat, offices and rehearsal rooms on the ground floor, classrooms on the first floor and an auditorium, connected with the recording studio on the second floor.
The building is property of the Municipality of Trieste and the structures and the “Cooperative 55” manages activities of the “House of Music”. They include the provision of spaces and services for practicing music, and support for the cultural organization and implementation of music courses, education and training projects; the artistic and executive production of recording projects, concerts, music festivals, cultural events, and radio and television programs.
The structures of the “House of Music” (rehearsal rooms, auditorium, and recording studio) are granted for use to individual or music groups, with rates reflecting the market, and with the possibility of hourly rates or daily lump. A differentiated charging system is also adopted, for access to services with reduced values, to support the non-professional musical activities of youth groups, as well as access to entities affiliated with the Municipality of Trieste, performing cultural activities in the city.
In more than 20 years, and thanks to a network of international collaborations, “House of Music” has become an important Centre of aggregation, and a reference point in the region of North-East Italy for young people, families, schools of any level, associations, enterprises, institutions and persons involved, at all levels, in art culture, education and communication.
