Unique Czech jazz accordionist Vojta Drnek belongs to a group of musicians who are constantly stretching the boundaries of what is expected of their instrument. Leader of the critically acclaimed chamber jazz trio Treetop, he is an artist who inspires performers of all ages to change the perception of the accordion and to bring its unexplored sounds to the world of modern music. He has appeared at the Jazzfest Berlin, and JazzFest Brno festivals, among others, and at many famous music venues, including Jazz Dock, Opus Jazz Club, and Donau115. An accordion student from the age of 6, Vojta Drnek holds a Masters degree from the Janáček’s Academy of Music and Performing Arts, with two semesters at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität, Linz. He has performed & collaborated with John Hollenbeck, Phil Donkin, Aidin Esen, Ori Jacobson, Roland Dahinden, Marian Friedl, and multiple orchestras and theaters.
Vojta Drnek is also a manager and co-founder of Ma Records, a label for jazz, experimental and improvised music, works in the marketing department of Jazz Goes to Town festival and as a musical editor and assistant at Kurt Rosenwinkel’s label Heartcore Records.
